Found this article at the VMWare KB. Lesson learned again: AntiVirus products can have a huge influence on environments. In this case a ThinApp-ed Application does not even start anymore when AV is active.
Symptoms
When Avast Antivirus is installed and running, you experience these symptoms:
- Thinapp capture fails to run
- Applications captured by Thinapp do not run
- Cannot run applications captured by Thinapp
Resolution
This issue occurs when the Behaviour Shield feature of Avast Antivirus is running.
To work around the issue, stop the Behaviour Shield feature in Avast.
